Shekhar Kapoor’s looking for love

Shekhar Kapur gets candid on his 'barren period' — personally and professionally.

Shekhar Kapoor’s looking for love
At 61, Shekhar Kapur yo-yos between having a young, rebellious, care-a-damn attitude and an older-than-the-hills spiritual side. Known to have followed his own path for the longest time, Shekhar these days is more a subject of jibes as he has been only making plans of making movies, but not really turning them into a reality.

His long cherished dream Pani has become a bit of a joke now. But Shekhar is not bothered.

He says, “I am not a career film-maker. I refuse to get buckled under people’s expectations of me. I look at film-making as a passion and I will make films only when I feel passionate about something. People say you are being indecisive, but what they really mean is that your decisions don’t suit us – we cannot compartmentalise you.”

Of late, his personal life has not been going great guns either. He and Suchitra Krishnamurthy have had an amicable divorce and daughter Kaveri is in Suchitra’s custody. Shekhar has just one dream for his eight-year-old daughter. “I want Kaveri to always be able to follow her dreams, no matter what they are. She should be confident of her dreams and not afraid of being judged.” For someone who has been known as a thinking woman’s sex symbol for the longest time, he has been single since the divorce – but not out of choice. “I don’t want to be single. I would love to be multiple. But I haven’t found anyone,” he says, candidly.
