Mumbai: Shatrughan Sinha is making a history of sorts in Bollywood. He becomes the only Indian politician to have ever played the role of another real-life politician in a movie.
In Ram Gopal Varma's forthcoming movie, Rakta Charitra, with Vivek Oberoi in the lead, Sinha is essaying the character of the iconic South Indian politician NT Rama Rao.
DNA has learnt that the actor is set to give his fans more surprises as he won't sport his trademark moustache in the movie. He has reportedly shaved it off to fit the character of NT Rama Rao, who did not have a moustache.
Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao was popularly known as NTR and was a hugely successful actor, director, producer, and politician. He founded the Telugu Desam Party in 1982 and went on to become the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. NTR even received a Padma Shri for his contribution to Telugu cinema.
Vivek Oberoi plays the role of Parital Ravi, a controversial politician and four-time MLA, who was assassinated in 2005 by his political rivals. He was known to be close to the Naxals. Criminal cases against him include those that allege him to be behind 10 Congressmen going missing.
