Security call for Soha Ali Khan!

When the makers of Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns planned a lavish first-look launch of their film, little had they imagined about the security hassles the team would face. An insider has revealed that in an attempt to re-create a royal setting resonating the theme of the film, a fake set of a palace exteriors will be erected with rich interiors at the venue today.

“While regular security was to be deployed for the star cast, we realised that added security measures will have to be taken as the leading ladies of the film — Soha Ali Khan and Mahie Gill — are going to be decked up in original vintage jewellery worth several crores,” shares the insider.

According to a member from the production house, the event will be a grand affair and in line with the flavour of the film. “Soha is playing a Nawabi bahu, so she decided to use her ancestral jewellery to complete the look. For this event, she will be wearing her grandmother’s royal jewellery which is estimated to be more than Rs3 crore," says the production member.

"She is naturally excited about stepping out in them, but is also concerned about the safety. Mahie, too, will be sporting jewellery worth a few crores. So, we have organised extra security just for these two. The guards will accompany them as part of their entourage right from their home to the venue. Approximately 20 security men have been deployed for each of them, as we can’t take any chances at the event," adds the production member.

The film, directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, is the sequel to Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster. Irrfan Khan and Soha joined the former cast of Mahie and Jimmy Shergill. “The look of the film is already creating much curiosity as it has very rich textures and a royal flavour to it, and yet has a contemporary appeal,” adds the source.
