Sanjay Bhansali not confident of making a comedy film

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who has mastered the art of presenting intense and dark stories on celluloid, says he is not sure whether he will ever try his hands on making a comedy.

"I think it is difficult to make a full-fledged comedy film. I don't know will I ever make it. I never plan about my movies…I cannot say what will be my next," Bhansali, who is gearing up for the release of Guzaarish told Press Trust of India.

The 47-year-old director has dealt with dark subjects in his films like 'Khamoshi', which was about a deaf and mute couple; 'Devdas' was about a dejected lover; 'Black', showed the trials and tribulations of a blind, deaf and mute girl.

All these movies went on to become big hits except for 'Saawariya' which failed to ignite the box-office. Now Bhansali is wooing audiences with Guzaarish that deals with another serious issue—euthanasia.

"Euthanasia is a subject that has never been handled in Indian cinema before. It is a very important issue. With big stars we made an entertaining film that still talks about the sensitive issue. We are not propagating it...we are not taking sides," the director said.

The movie stars Hrithik Roshan, which sees him essaying the role of a magician who becomes a paraplegic when a magic trick goes wrong. Aishwarya Rai plays the role of a nurse.

With his new offering, Bhansali explores a paraplegic's life.

"I like taking up subjects that are closer to life…to which audience can relate but in an entertaining way. I don't want to bore my audiences," he said.

The film, releasing on November 19, also marks the debut of Bhansali as a music composer.

"Since my childhood I have been fascinated with music. I love listening Marathi and Gujarati music," he said.
