Sandalwood takes on audio piracy

The team of Jogaiah is all set to combat online audio piracy by partnering with a local software firm.

Sandalwood takes on audio piracy

There have been many firsts associated with Jogaiah. It is Rakshitha’s first home production, it will have the first 3D song in Sandalwood and now there’s another new first. The team, which is releasing the audio of the film on May 18, has tied up with local software firm Shree Technologies to combat online audio piracy for the first time in Sandalwood.

Rakshitha, producer of Jogaiah, says, “We’re aware that people are eagerly awaiting the audio release of our film. They know that music plays an important part in Prem’s films. But, online piracy can affect the business and that prompted us to take this step. The software what we’ve used will help us track each person down, so that we can take action against them. It is much needed in the film industry.”

Explaining the way the software works, Prem, director of the film, says, “It will basically track the IP address of the person trying to illegally download songs of our film. All it requires is for someone to search for the keywords ‘Jogaiah music download’ and it automatically tracks them down. If they have a webcam on their system and it’s switched on, it will also capture the photo of the offender.”

Arguably, this is the first time a film in India is looking at adopting such measures to track piracy.

Prem adds, “We’ve spent a lot on the production of each song. We’ve worked in studios in Chennai, Mumbai and even London to ensure the best music for the film. This is why we want everyone to play fair and the offenders will be punished.”

Shivarajkumar, the lead actor in Jogaiah, has just one small appeal to his fans. “I’m going to buy the original CD of the film when it releases. If you’re a film lover like me and want good music, all I ask of you is to buy an original CD,” he appealed
