Sandalwood actor Santosh is all set to try his luck again

When actor Santosh decided to go solo with the Kannada film Nooru Janmakku, there was a lot of hype about his new innings in the film industry wherein he was known to play second fiddle. But after the film’s poor performance at the box office, he was almost written off. However, Santosh is still determined to make it as a solo hero and is all set to try his luck again — this time with a mass film, which will take off early this May.

“It was unfortunate that Nooru Janmakku didn’t run. It was a film for the multiplex audience and that doesn’t work in Karnataka. This is why I’m now doing an out-and-out commercial film. My friend, Sanjay, who directed me in Hudugaata, will be directing this new film. This will the first commercial flick for both of us,” he says. The team includes Jassie Gift, who composed the tunes for Hudugaata and the recently released Sanju Weds Geetha. “It will be a film about love and friendship. I’m looking forward to showcase my dancing and action skills,” said Santosh, who is currently looking out for the heroine.

Santosh, who did get some offers after Nooru Janmakku, said, “There were some multi-starrer options, but I didn’t want to do that. A few other film-makers approached me assuming that I had produced Nooru Janmakku, which is a misconception. They thought I’ll bring in the funds.”

Talking about Nooru Janmakku’s failure, he says, “People wrote me off. I admit I was disappointed. I saw two options; one was to go back to where I came from — marketing and events. The other was to create my opportunities, I chose the latter. I am passionate about films and I want to die as an actor.”
