Rumours of me getting hitched were a bolt from the blue: Jiah Khan

“It came as a bolt from the blue. I am too young to get married and too old to say that I don’t believe in it. Yes, marriage will happen at the appropriate time but definitely not now. It is at least five to six years away,” Khan says.

Rumours of me getting hitched were a bolt from the blue: Jiah Khan

Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar… very few actors of Jiah Khan’s age can boast of starring alongside such B-town biggies.

Yet, somehow, she’s yet to make the cut to the most sought after actresses. Tell Jiah that and she hit a philosophical note saying that Bollywood is, after all, a male centric industry.

“Yes, the films are generally male centric, with the hero always being the centre of attraction. A hero is mostly the leitmotif in a story or a play. I have studied Shakespeare. You have to learn to live with it. But I am very happy with the work that I have done so far. In fact, I am very proud to have been a part of films like Nishabd, Housefull and of course, Ghajini,” says Jiah.

We ask her about her next move and Jiah says that she is yet to figure it out.

“I am back in Mumbai and I’m reading a lot of scripts. You can expect a few announcements soon,” she adds excitedly.
But the excitement is short lived as we quiz her about rumours of her being married. Jiah describes the buzz as a hilarious situation that she had no choice but to go through.

“It came as a bolt from the blue. I am too young to get married and too old to say that I don’t believe in it. Yes, marriage will happen at the appropriate time but definitely not now. It is at least five  to six years away,” she says.

So, is Jiah Khan dating anybody? “I can only say that I am single. And no, I’m not engaged to anybody either. Once I am sure about my boyfriend, I will be the first one to come out and say it loud. Till then, I’d prefer not to talk about my personal life,” says the actress.

Jiah says that she leads a very normal life and the tag of being a glamorous actress has not really changed the way she is as a person. “I go out with my friends all the time. That I am an actor shouldn’t make any difference to my life. It’s just my job while my family is my lifeline,” she concludes.
