Take a thrill pill

'Raqueeb'

Cast: Rahul Khanna, Jimmy Shergill and Tanushree Dutta
Direction: Anurag Singh

Rating: **1/2

Yet another thriller by yet another debutant film-maker. Anurag Singh's film, 'Raqueeb' is a story heard before. But it's the treatment that is different, which makes the fast-paced film watchable.

Remo (Rahul Khanna), an orphan, is a successful entrepreneur. He has only one friend--the shy and reticent Siddharth (Sharman Joshi). One day Siddharth sets Remo up for a blind date with Sophie (Tanushree Dutta). After a few mishaps, Remo and Sophie fall in love with each other.

However, there is a third angle to this love story as Sunny (Jimmy Shergill), a struggling actor, is also in love with Sophie. But Sophie opts for luxury and gets married to Remo. However, post-marriage Sophie and Sunny rekindle their love affair and soon hatch a plot to kill Remo.

What works for the film is that till the last minute one cannot guess who the culprit is and who the victim is.

Sharman Joshi comes up with a brilliant performance yet again, after his recent convincing portrayal in 'Life in a ...Metro'.Rahul Khanna slips easily into the role of a smart businessman. Jimmy Shergillis earnest too. The surprise packet of the film is Tanushree Dutta who gives a refined performance. Though her make-up is still garish and her clothes not always chic, she has improved as an actor. Pritam Singh's music is foot tapping and fun.
