The success of his television career didn’t make actor Rajeev Khandelwal take hasty cinematic decisions. What else would explain just a handful of films since he started off in Bollywood in 2008? And now, Rajeev is all set with his next, a light-hearted rom-com, Will You Marry Me?

Also starring Mugdha Godse and Shreyas Talpade, the film is all about having a good time. “I play Rajveer, a Casanova who wants to make the most of the good things life has to offer,” he informs. His look in the film has created quite a buzz — two distinct styles, one with curly hair and the other straight. “I’ve experimented quite a bit with my look in Will You... pastel shades, funky hairdos, a very different body language. Aditya Datta the director) gave me the license to go crazy and so we did,” says Rajeev.

On a different tangent from his earlier intense films, Rajeev is thrilled with the variety. “I haven’t done too many films and it’s only by acting in different genres will I know my range and capability. Also, it is fun, surprising myself,” he explains, adding, “Will You... will definitely be very refreshing for theaudience.”

Sharing the frame with Shreyas has been special, says Rajeev. “He’s my senior and a wonderful actor too. His comic timing is simply brilliant. Shooting for this film was a ball —we just chilled — a contrast to my earlier shooting experiences for Aamir, Shaitan or even Soundtrack,” quips the actor, adding, “Rajveer and Rajeev sound pretty similar and often, Shreyas would end up calling me Rajeev when the camera was rolling — I had to keep correcting him.”

Ask the married actor his experience of asking his then-girlfriend-now-wife the crucial question — Will you marry me? and Rajeev recollects, “Before I could ask her, it was all over the media. Hence, I had to skip that bit and ask her Dad instead: “Can I marry your daughter?”
