Priyanka Chopra, the unofficial ambassador for the West

Any talk of international artistes making their way to India is incomplete without a mention of actor Priyanka Chopra. It all began  with the actor throwing a bash for Hollywood hottie Gerard Butler  during his visit to India. Chopra’s not just clued in on international music scene — be it hip-hop, reggae and rap, but also seems to be active in getting connected to them.

For instance, she can be seen tweeting with the UK based singer Jay Sean. Shortly after that she met star singer Lady Gaga at a concert in New York on a vacation.  “It was great fun.  She’s very nice and we spent time talking a lot about India and her plans to visit in the future.  She is a fabulous performer.  I loved the way she connected with her fans,” recalls Chopra.

But while Lady Gaga is apparently on her way to India, reports suggesting that Piggy Chops was considering collaborating with Lady Gaga for a music album was denied by the actor. “Reports of working on an album with Lady Gaga are untrue, but never say never,” says Chopra.

Pussycat Dolls lead singer, Nicole Scherzinger recently gave her a shout-out while releasing the desi remix of her latest song. “I’m the unofficial ambassador of India for all talented musicians in the West,” laughs Chopra, adding “On a serious note, that was very sweet of her to send that message.  She’s terrific and looks stunning in the video. It would be great to catch up with her soon.”

Though Chopra’s come to be known as the unoffical ambassador of Western musicians, she has no plans to leave Bollywood for the West. “I’m not actively pursuing a role in mainstream Hollywood, but if an interesting offer comes my way, I will definitely consider it. Much like my selections of films here, any Hollywood project that I associate with should not only have an interesting story line, but also an interesting role for me.”
