Priyamvada refuses to ‘fake’ it

The actor didn’t want to shoot an intimate scene with co-actor Gaurav Khanna’s duplicate reports Sapana Patil Poojary

MUMBAI: Priyamvada aka Simran in ‘Meri Doli Tere Angana’ (Zee), recently created a chaos on the sets. The unit was to shoot an intimate scene between Priyamvada and co-actor Gaurav Khanna aka Ruhaan in the show.

However, Priyamvada refused to comply when she realised that she was supposed to shoot it with Gaurav’s duplicate. Apparently, she called up producer Rahul Bhatt and insisted that he send Gaurav to the sets.

While some unit members suggest that she has a crush on Gaurav, Priyamvada clarifies, “I insisted on doing the scene with Gaurav not because I like him but for  professional reasons. It was an important scene. I am an actor and would like to perform with an actor. Acting with dupes is no motivation at all.”

She adds, “My contract bars me from taking up other shows. But Gaurav is not shackled by any such clause. He is doing two other shows at the moment. Good for him, but when he is shooting for other shows; I have to shoot with dupes. This is affecting me somewhere. Why should I let my performance suffer for the sake of his convenience? The last time too, when it was an intimate scene, I did it with a dupe. I had opposed then too, but Gaurav didn’t come. But this can’t go on forever. Hence, this time I put my foot down.”

Gaurav on his part says, “Well, it does happen that sometimes I am not there on the sets. But I try not to miss important scenes. If my co-actor is feeling uncomfortable then I try to solve the issue. This is my show too. Hence I am as much committed to this as anyone else.” On asking him about Priyamvada and his alleged fling, he says, “It is just a rumour.”

Producer Rahul says, “There was some problem on the sets. But it wasn’t big. I was told it got solved immediately.”
