Prachi Desai shakes a leg

Actress Prachi Desai, who made a transition from small screen to the big screen with Rock On!!, has constantly been working on her image.

The actress, who had a very homely, girl-next-door image in her TV serial has been playing roles her age on the big screen. The actress’s next release is Rohit Shetty’s Bol Bachchan with actor Abhishek Bachchan. Prachi, who has always been fond of dancing, recently shot for her very first song and dance sequence for the film. Most parts of the film have been shot in Rajasthan and the dance sequence too is elaborate. However, since she had never danced on screen before she was really nervous about how the entire sequence would turn out.

A source from the unit reveals, “Prachi was really upbeat about the song sequence, but since she had never been a part of one before, she was nervous as well. To top it, she had to match steps with Abhishek who was apparently very well versed with the routine. Although a natural dancer, Prachi would often stay back on the sets and rehearse for her steps; even after most of them had left.”

While Prachi does agree that it is difficult to match up to Abhishek, she says she is open to item numbers.

“I love dancing and I am extremely excited about doing this particular dance number. It is not a regular number and it has shaped up fantastically.” When it comes to dancing, Prachi looks up to yesteryears actress Sridevi. “I am a huge fan of Srivedi. She was so brilliant, be it in acting or dancing. She also had a lot of peppy dance numbers to her credit. Chaalbaaz is my favourite movie and I am sure any youngster would look up to her.”

Other actresses, who feature on her favourites list are Madhuri Dixit Nene and Vidya Balan.

“I really admire Madhuri, her career graph is amazing. Another actor from the recent lot I am a huge fan of is Vidya Balan. She was mind-blowing in The Dirty Picture. I am not sure how many people would have been able to pull it off like she did,” says Prachi.
