Paying a price for acting!

Among the more established names in Prakash Jha’s Chakravyuh, there’s one face that stands out, that of actor Anjali Patil. The actor, who plays a Naxalite has been garnering accolades for her performance in the film starring Arjun Rampal and Abhay Deol. But a source reveals that though acting came easy for her, becoming an actor was not an easy task.

The source shares that coming from a simple middle-class family, Anjali’s father was keen that she become a government officer or a doctor and have a safe, secure job. “Anjali was always a topper in school and very good at academics, more so in science, so her father always wanted her to become a doctor.  When she revealed her plans to become an actor, it was not an idea that was welcomed with open arms by the family,” says the source.

However, Anjali persisted and decided to follow her heart. When asked, Anjali confirms that her family was not keen to see her take up acting and give up their dreams of her becoming a doctor. “My father always wanted me to have a safe career as he is a government officer and I am the youngest child in the family so he was always very worried about me when I switched from medicine to acting. He got really upset and stopped talking to me for a year-and-half,” says Anjali.

But the newbie reveals that things changed when she won her first gold medal for acting. “It was the first gold medal in my whole family and he felt very proud of me and my work. Now after Chakravyuh, he has been telling everyone to see the film and that I am his daughter,” smiles Anjali, who will soon be seen in yet anotherJha film.
