Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has said that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have a nervous attraction to each other.

The helmer mentioned that both heartthrobs have a strange sense of pull towards one another, which helped in getting their chemistry right for the film.

"What Rob and Kristen had is a multitude of feelings for each other. Complex feelings for each other. It was what we needed. Complete, intense fascination," the Telegraph quoted Hardwicke as telling Vanity Fair magazine.

He further briefed that Pattinson used to get "always drunk" in the evenings and play guitar to the cheers of Stewart and other crewmembers.

However, Stewart and Pattinson have dismissed reports of a romantic relationship.

He said: "It's so retarded. We're characters in this comic book,"

It doesn't make any difference what you say.

Pattinson said: "It doesn't make any difference what you say. I've literally been across the country [from Kristen] and it's like, 'Oh, they were on secret dates!' It's like, 'Where? I can't get out of my hotel room!'"
