The paternity of Jackson's three children is in the spotlight with reports claiming that the pop star was not their biological father, even as millions of fans hope to pay their final tribute to their idol in a public viewing scheduled for Friday.
US celebrity website TMZ, which first broke the news of Jackson's death last week, has claimed that Jackson was not the sperm donor for either of his three children and his ex-wife Debbie Rowe was merely a surrogate.
"Michael was not the sperm donor for any of his kids. Debbie's eggs were not used. She was merely the surrogate, and paid well for her services in the births of Michael Jr and Paris," the website said.
Another report by Us magazine claims that Jackson's Australian dermatologist and Rowe's boss, Arnold Klein is the biological father of Jackson's two eldest children --Prince Michael, 12 and Paris Katherine, 11.
"He (Klein) is the dad. He and Debbie signed an agreement saying they would never reveal the truth," an insider told Us magazine.
The reports have come at a time when Jackson's mother hopes to get the permanent custody of Jackson's three children in a hearing scheduled for August 3.
The family is, meanwhile, planning an elaborate memorial service for the millions of Jackson's fans at his fantasy themed Neverland ranch where the popstar's body will be kept for public viewing.
Jackson's body will be taken to the ranch, north of Santa Barbara, California, tomorrow in preparation for viewing Friday and a private memorial service will take place on Sunday.
Planning is under way for a 30-car motorcade carrying Jackson's remains to leave the Los Angeles area on Thursday for Santa Barbara County, a law enforcement official said.
Although the public viewing will be held in California, the pop legend's final burial place has not yet been disclosed.
The pop star, christened 'Wacko Jacko' by the media for his eccentric lifestyle and adored by millions of fans as 'King of Pop', died at the age of 50 last week after suspected cardiac arrest.
The singer, who was on the verge of a much awaited comeback, reportedly had a staggering USD 500 million debt at the time of his death.
But the emergence of a 2002 will is expected to sort out some of Jackson's messy inheritance issues.
The lawyer of Jackson's family has said that they have seen the will but he declined to disclose the details saying that the document will be presented in a Los Angeles court by Thursday.
However, reports suggest that Jackson may have named his mother as guardian of his three children and ordered that all his assets be moved into an entity known as the Michael Jackson Family Trust.
The investigators, meanwhile, are focusing on the role of prescription drugs in Jackson's sudden demise and the Los Angeles Times reported that police detectives are planning to identify and interview "multiple doctors".
Jackson's dependency on prescription drugs has been confirmed by many of his former aides including his children's nanny, nurse and former manager.
A former nurse of the pop star, Cherilyn Lee, has claimed that the star begged her for powerful sedative, Diprivan, as he struggled with insomnia.
