Panaji: Information and Broadcasting minister Ambika Soni today said that a committee of experts will be constituted to recommend measures for making the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) a world class, global event.

"We are sensitive to the feedback regarding organisation of IFFI. The recommendations would be implemented from next year itself. Suggestions will be invited from all over India. The sheer diversity of films made in different regions and in different languages in the country makes IFFI a unique event," Soni said.

The minister was attending the inaugural ceremony of the 40th edition of IFFI which opened with veteran actress Waheeda Rehman lighting the ceremonial lamp in the presence of Goa chief minister Digambar Kamat and other dignitaries.

Soni expressed confidence that IFFI will be able to achieve the objective of showcasing outstanding films from all over the world to movie buffs.

"The magic of cinema is enthralling and universal as it is the most inexpensive and accessible form of entertainment," the minister said.
