Bhubaneswar: Orissa's heritage, rich culture and natural beauty will be showcased in a special programme scheduled to be aired by Discovery Channel tomorrow night.
The programme titled Orissa: The Divine Land delves into the state's documented history dating back to 2000 BC covering a wide range tales from spiritual aspects to culture and history to traditions.
Hosted by noted television personality Kim Jagtiani, the programme seeks to explore a vivid kaleidoscope of beautiful landscapes, magnificent, archaeological sites, dense forests, abundant wildlife, pristine beaches, rivers, art and culture.
A land of many traditional Indian art forms, Orissa boasts of classical Odissi dance, exotic sculptures and rituals like Rath Yatra of Shri Jagannath, which attract thousands of visitors.
Dotted with ancient monuments ranging from the ruins of Sisupalgarh to the magnificent Lingaraj and Shri Jagannath temples, from the world heritage site of theKonark Sun Temple to the exquisitely carved Mukteswar, the programme captures the grandeur of the state, the channel said in a statement.
The state is also blessed with around 500-km-long coastline and has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The lush green forest cover of Orissa plays host to a wide variety of flora and fauna, including the famed Royal Bengal Tiger.
The programme is scheduled to be telecast at 9 pm tomorrow, the statement said.
