Olivia Munn's stepfather verbally abused her

The 31-year-old actress revealed her stepfather, who she only refers to as "the devil", was an Air Force military officer and married her mother, Kim Schmid, when Olivia was two years old.

Munn's stepfather used to constantly tell her she had "no talent" and wasn't "smart enough" or "pretty enough" to succeed in life.

She said, "He would always say, 'You're not smart enough, pretty enough, you have no talent,' and it would knock me down, but it wouldn't keep me down."

However, her stepfather's constant verbal abuse led Olivia to discover her acting talents as while he was launching verbal tirades at other members of her family, the brunette beauty would retreat to her bedroom and impersonate actresses to take her siblings' minds off what has happening in the other room.

In an interview with Ocean Drive magazine, she added, "When my stepfather would be screaming his head off in the living room, I would hustle everybody into my room and launch into imitations of teachers or do scenes from movies.

"And that would take their minds off of the hell that was happening down the hall."
