No strings attached for Abhay Deol

So what if love’s in the air — the actor talks about why he doesn’t feel the need to settle down in the conventional way.

No strings attached for Abhay Deol

Actor Abhay Deol likes to flirt with the unconventional — both on and off the silver screen. He is quite open about his relationship with model-actress Preeti Desai but the actor who had reportedly moved in with her does not endorse the idea of getting married or putting a legal stamp on his relationship.

“I am quite settled in my life. I am in a comfortable space and pretty content with the way my personal life is shaping up. I have always been like this and will continue to be so until I feel the need to get out of my comfort zone and settle down,” he says putting to rest all rumours of an impending engagement to Desai.

The young actor says that he would rather be spoken about for his work than his relationships and is quick to change the conversation to the Deol khandaan’s latest release, Yamla Pagla Deewana.

Even before a question is thrown to him, he says, “I loved the film. It was a complete entertainer and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would love to do a film with my brothers (Sunny and Bobby Deol) but I cannot have the same chemistry that they share. Even if it is for a film, I cannot imagine myself mouthing kutte, kamine to my uncle (Dharmendra). I am shy and it doesn’t come naturally to me but I am looking forward to working with family,” he insists.

The actor may be open about his views on his relationship, but, as of now, he is tight lipped about the projects he has taken on.
Deol is just back from a long shooting stint in Spain for Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming film Zindagi Naa Milegi Dobara. But the actor is already looking forward to his other films —  Dibakar Banerjee’s Shanghai and Roland Joffe’s Singularity which also stars actress Bipasha Basu.

Quiz him about his films and he says it’s too early to talk about both the projects. “Dibakar is a wonderful director and I leap at any opportunity to work with him. Both of us share the same sensibilities and it will be great to work with Emraan Hashmi. I am looking forward to it.”

But he refuses to divulge any details about his Hollywood stint. “It is at too nascent a stage to even talk about the film. Things are being worked out and it’s all very hush-hush,” he says trailing off.
