No comeback saga this

Shweta Kawatra insists that she’s never been out of TV, so where’s the question of a comeback?

Television actor Shweta Kawatra will soon be seen in a soap Sonu Sweety. However, Shweta, who is popularly known as Pallavi of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, doesn’t like it when people say she’s making a comeback with this show.

“I never left TV that people can call it as a comeback. I just took some time off from work and travelled a lot across the globe. It’s probably a little more than a year that I have not been working,” says Shweta.

Sonu Sweety is a comedy where the story revolves around a middle-class Punjabi couple who has been married for seven years. They share a love-hate relationship. With a lot of silly situations thrown in, the show focuses on the day-to-day problems of the married couple with humourous twists.

Varun Badola plays Shweta’s husband in the show. “Varun and I know each other quite well. It’s great to act with somebody with whom you share a good rapport. Needless to say, its always fun to work with him, that too in a comedy,” she adds.

After she participated in Nach Baliye with her hubby Manav Gohil, they have been performing at multiple places. “I love dancing and Nach Baliye has been a great platform. We’ve been travelling to different countries and performing; it’s been a rollercoaster ride so far,” she says.

Ask her why she chose to stay away from daily soaps post Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, and she says, “I was working day in and day out in daily soaps. For a long time, I was longing for a break. So, I took one and did things that I always wanted to do but couldn’t do due to my hectic schedule. After that, whatever role I was getting was not exciting enough. This was a comedy and I haven’t done that in my career. So, I took it up,” she ends.
