ShareMumbai: Neil Nitin Mukesh kept his parents in the dark about his nude scene in a forthcoming film, and apologised later. "My mother got a rude shock when she saw those pictures getting circulated. My dad was more composed, but the fact is that I did not know that such a story was coming out and so I did not tell my parents. You have to realise that we live in a society for which these things are like blasphemy. People were questioning my parents, they gossiped what I was up to and all those got to the ears of my parents. Naturally they were stressed as they were concerned about my image," Neil says.
He adds: "My mother called me thinking that someone has taken it while I was changing. When I told her it's a scene in the film, she was speechless. They were afraid of the consequences if I was rejected by the audiences."
There is something else that Neil has been secretive about -- his mentor Aditya Chopra. "When Johnny Gaddaar got stuck for one-and-a-half years, I was almost on the verge of losing my head. I had worked under Adi (Mujhse Dosti Karoge when Neil was in college) and so I decided to go to him. He gave me three bits of advice: 'Take your own decisions as that way you get to learn more and never regret taking them'; 'Never give up even when things go wrong'; and 'Never take success and failure too seriously.'"
