Neelam Kothari and Samir Soni get candid about their upcoming wedding

It’s been a whirlwind time recently for both actor-turned-jewellery designer Neelam Kothari and soon-to-be husband Samir Soni.

While the latter has recently returned from his stay on the sets of a reality show, he’s got little time to re-acquaint himself with his schedule and normality. For life is a “crazy ride” at the moment as he’s planning to tie the knot with Neelam, his girlfriend of two years.

“Both of us are running helter-skelter,” he laughs.

The big day would be sometime soon, but the couple is still finalising a firm date. “It’s this month,” says Neelam. While Samir is from Himachal Pradhesh and Neelam, a Gujarati-Iranian, there won’t be any big customs being followed in the function from either side. Instead they want it to be a small, intimate affair. “It will be an Arya Samaj wedding after which we are planning to have a party for just family and our close friends,” she informs.

For Neelam, the hours now are filled with shopping. “Seema Khan (her friend and actor Sohail Khan’s wife) is helping me out with the lehenga which I am going to wear for the party. The wedding outfit is traditional,” she says. And what’s Samir going to wear? “Whatever Neelam lets me wear,” he teases.

The wedding will also be the second walk down the probverbial aisle for both and they reveal they had their own reserves. She says, “We had a lot of inhibitions. It took us long to decide to do this. He had his own baggage and I had mine. As we have both been through broken marriages we felt apprehensive. I guess you’re scared the second time around. Over the months and years we realised we are right for each other.” Post the wedding she will shift to his home at 7 Bungalows. “Basically life will be the same, I’ll just shift my residence.” And any plans to add her touches to his home? “Yes, once I move in, I will take over,” she laughs.
