For someone who owns over 250 pairs of shoes and counting, you can’t ask her what her favourite of them all is. For actor and TV host Malaika Arora Khan says her collection of heels, wedges and stilettos is quite special.
“But if you ask what I love the most in my wardrobe, then my shoes are my biggest fetish. I’m obsessed with them and can never have enough,” she laughs, adding, “It goes back to when I was just four and owned this ballet pair that I loved.” Since then she’s had shoes in almost every possible style. “I love heels and wish my running shoes had heels too!”
But while Malaika likes shoes that look good on her feet, she emphasises she’s not into quirky footwear. She has a few top of the mind picks.
“I’d say my red six inch pair of stilettos bought from a local market in New York, my Christian Louboutin with signature red soles that are a classic, a nude pair that goes with almost everything, Versace wedges with an all glass (acrylic) edge and pair that’s studded with crystals that the little girls in my family love. I also recently picked up Jimmy Choos that light up when you walk and look fabulous and love my flip-flops with little diamantes and flowers.”
Will she ever part with her shoes? “Well, I do lend them to my sister but I’d never exchange them for anything, I’m too possessive about them,” she grins.
