'Munnabhai' not possible without Sanjay and me: Arshad Warsi

Bollywoood actor Arshad Warsi, who shot to fame after playing the role of the lovable goon Circuit in Munnabhai MBBS, feels that the third movie in the series will be incomplete without Sanjay Dutt and him.

"Munnabhai cannot happen without Sanjay and me. People have accepted and loved us in the characters of Munnabhai and Circuit. They have a set image of the characters so without both of us it seems that the film will be incomplete," Arshad told PTI in Mumbai.

The actor, who will also feature in the third movie of the Munnabhai series - Munnabhai Chale Amerika, is grateful to the series for reviving his sagging career, which went downhill after his debut Tere Mere Sapne in 1996.

"After Tere Mere Sapne, I acted in several films but most of them failed to do well at the box office. After over six years, Munnabhai MBBS came and turned out to be a huge success. It brought the recognition and love that I was striving for," he said.

The actor, who besides the Munnabhai series will also feature in the sequels of Golmaal Returns, Dhamal and Shortkut, refuted reports which said that he had hiked his fees for the sequel of Golmaal Returns, to be directed by Rohit Shetty, following the success of his recently released film Ishqiya.

"The Golmaal issues have been sorted. I have not hiked my prices. The producer knows very well how much the actor deserves and how much is the actor worth. Accordingly he pays the actor," Arshad said.

"Audience will love the third sequel of Golmaal as it is going to be very much hilarious. People will go mad laughing," he added.

According to recent reports, the actor had hiked his fee for the film to Rs3 crore, double than what he was being offered.

Warsi, whose role of a kohl-eyed crook in Ishqiya was much appreciated by audience and critics alike, said he had been offered roles in films including a thriller and a murder mystery.

The actor, who turns producer with his upcoming film Hum Tum Aur Ghost is all set to direct a film as well.

"I'm working on a script. It is an action-comedy film. I'm writing as well as directing the film and am likely to produce it as well," he said.
