Mumbai’s new haven of healing

Designer Anita Dongre’s one-stop-wellness-spot ‘Clay’ is the talk of the town

Mumbai’s new haven of healing

Traipse over to Pali village in Bandra, and you can step into this haven of health and healing. Not your regular gym, Clay, a centre for wellness and life enhancement, is much more. “I came up with the concept nearly two years ago,” reveals Dongre. “I used to visit a gym but found that it did not take care of all my problems.” Looking for a solution to deal with the effects of stress and a hectic work schedule, she realised that convenience along with proper remedies were the order of the day. Hence, she set about putting together several facilities under one roof.

“I got together some of my friends who are renowned professionals in their fields and were ready to provide their services,” she elaborates. A homeopath, yoga instructor, trainer and counselor are just some of the people who will help you with an all-round healing experience.

“In the last four months since we have launched, we have people of all age groups from different walks of life coming in to avail of the various services we offer.” Ask her how she manages to balance fashion and wellness, and she is quick to point out, “I don’t handle the day-to-day management at Clay. But I am present every morning as my yoga instructor is there along with my homeopath.”

Nature care, therapeutic yoga, grooming (which is an extension of health), kickboxing, stress management workshops and ante-natal classes are just some of the unique courses available. “An individual can just walk in and avail of any of the services they want to and pay for it,” says Dongre. As for the name, she says it just came to her: “It is a place for people who are looking to change themselves from within or without. It can help mould you.”
