After Mankatha, director Venkat Prabhu hopes to work on a kid’s entertainer...

More 3D, more fun

Venkat Prabhu is a wanted man. With Tamil star Ajith Kumar’s 50th film — Mankatha, in his kitty, the director is all set to give the actor a new face-lift. And with it, he has also upped his demand.

Mankatha is simply a game of probability. It is an out-and-out action film that will keep you guessing right till the end. The film not only deals with friendship, love and hope, but also the darker side of life such as betrayal and loss. It is a fresh script and will definitely strike a chord with the audience,” he says.

It’s not just the younger lot on Venkat’s team who are in awe of Ajith, but the director himself is quite upbeat about the casting. “I’ve known Ajith from the time I worked with him in Ji. As a matter of fact, we’ve wanted to work together for a long time now. But, finally things worked out for Mankatha and I’m more than happy to be directing his 50th film,” he says cheerfully.

With several changes in the cast after launching the film in August, the director has finally settled down and started shooting extensively. “Initially, we approached Neetu Chandra for the female lead and Nagarjuna for the second lead. But since they had date issues, we’ve finally zeroed in on Trisha and Arjun Sarja for the respective roles.”

The film, which also stars Premgi Amaren, Vaibhav Reddy and Meenakshi among others, makes one wonder if all of them will have significant roles. “Oh yes, they definitely have. Though a film like Ocean’s Eleven had several actors, everyone had important roles. It is likewise with Mankatha,” he explains

. The action-cum-adventure flick will have its share of comedy, quirky one-liners and an item song! “The music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, will definitely be a crowd-puller,” he vouches.

But here’s what has got him even more excited. “I’m planning to work on a 3D film for kids. Since my last film Goa, originally meant for children, got an ‘A’ certificate, several people complained that kids couldn’t watch it. So, I’m hoping to do a complete kids entertainer after Mankatha,” he signs off.
