The 23-year-old actress broke into tears dreading for her life but later realised the weapon was a fake.
The actress-turned-fashion-designer was out shopping with friends when she encountered a gun-wielding man, who she was convinced wanted to kill her.
"I was walking... with the security guard & some guy was following me, then pulled up in his car & pointed a GUN at me! (sic)," Lohan wrote on Twitter.
"I was on the phone (with) my mum & I screamed and ducked & the guy started laughing & pushed the trigger & it was a fake gun. I was crying...he scared me (sic)," she added.
