Lara Dutta, Mahesh Bhupathi thrilled!

On Friday afternoon B-Town actress Lara Dutta and tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi welcomed a new addition to their family, after Lara delivered a healthy baby girl.

“Both Lara and the baby are doing great,” their spokesperson said. Apparently, the couple have named their newborn Saira Bhupathi, as good friend Raveena Tandon revealed in her tweet, though there’s been no confirmation by Lara-Hesh.

Mahesh, who couldn’t be by his wife’s side as he was playing at the Australian Open in Melbourne, had announced the news on Twitter and is said to be ecstatic.

“Just spoke to @DuttaLara and baby on Skype. they got to watch the match on TV in the hospital, got to thank the Ausopen for moving us,” tweeted Mahesh on Saturday.

Having won the doubles with tennis partner Rohan Bopanna on Friday, Mahesh is said to be telling friends that he can’t wait to hold the baby. The actor, meanwhile, is expected to be discharged from the hospital in the following week.

According to sources, the baby was not due until the last week of January, but the family was prepared. “Lara is extremely happy and resting well,” said the source.

Lara, who’d recently launched a yoga DVD for pregnant women, was quite active right till her delivery, attending events and showing off the baby bump in her stylish avatar. Interestingly, Lara, who had attended a party hosted for talk show queen Oprah Winfrey on Monday, had tweeted, “@Oprah and @iamsrk, two people I absolutely adore! Thank you for making my day! Now can go into labour happily!”

Though the actor-turned-producer is for now going to be busy being a mum insiders say that she has plans to plunge back in to her role as a producer soon.

But for now, the actor can’t wait to catch up with hubby and welcome their daughter home.
