Kiran Bedi to be back with 'Aap ki Kacheri'

Former IPS officer, social activist, TV host and Judge, Dr Kiran Bedi will be back on the tube with the third season of her show Aap Ki Kacheri.

Dr Bedi’s debut on TV was not a regular one, considering she replaced one of India’s most popular prime time family dramas, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. In two seasons of her show, Bedi inspired many, and we’re not talking just about the aam aadmi. She apparently even inspired starlet Rakhi Sawant to come out with her own version of the sensational show. In a tete-a-tete with After Hrs, Bedi gives her views on the current crop of reality shows, Rakhi and more.

Ask her for her opinion on inspiring Rakhi to come up with her own reality show, where in she imparts justice to two warring parties and Bedi says that she has no complaints! “It’s her and the show’s perspective. I have nothing to say about it.”
Quiz her about reality shows in India and the participants on such shows and she says, “Firstly, with the kind of time schedule I keep, I barely get time to catch up with news and analysis! But people have their needs and everyone has their own ways to soak in some sunshine,” she adds.

Ask her about her recent campaign against corruption, where she supported activist Anna Hazare’s movement for the Lokpal Bill and Bedi responds, “The Panel needed legal eagles to take on legal eagles. I am not a legal expert. And the cause is of national importance — not about presence, nor representations.”

Apart from having earned the reputation of a supercop and an authoritarian, not many know about her tech savvy streak. Talking about  being tech savvy, she says, “It’s not like I’m a gizmo geek but if I value communication, I have to be tech savvy. Right?”
On a lighter vein, Bedi reveals that when she is not working she likes to unwind with music and films. “I love to sit at home and read, relax, walk, exercise, listen to music, watch an occasional film, and spend time with my family. As far as unwinding is concerned, nothing beats  having a sound sleep,” she concludes.
