Kalki Koechlin gets sporty!

The actress reveals what sets her Sundays apart from the rest of the weekdays

Kalki Koechlin gets sporty!

For actor Kalki Koechlin Sundays have always been special. “Doesn’t matter whether I’m working or not, but I still feel the kind of excitement on Sundays that I would feel as a kid,” she says. The actor admits that in the film industry, most are bound to have working Sundays and any day they get off then becomes a ‘Sunday’, ‘but for me Sundays are special days, no matter what I do’.

Revealing her sporty side, Kalki also says that she enjoys indulging in sports once in a while on a Sunday. “I’m not a sports junkie, but I do enjoy a good game of basketball or badminton or tennis once in a while. I think indulging in games is the best way to work out and stay fit too,” shares the Dev D actor. “I would in fact recommend it to everyone,” she adds.

Sports apart, what the actor really loves doing on Sundays is curling up with a book. “I love reading, and so does Anurag (filmmaker hubby Anurag Kashyap). Between the two of us, we share a few thousand books,” she lets in. But while she prefers the lighter stuff, Anurag, says Kalki, loves to read some dark and intense stuff. “Though we both are book-lovers, our interests in books completely differ. And neither of us have been able to convert the other into changing that,” she laughs. But that’s in books. As far as movies are concerned, both are extreme movie buffs and make sure to catch at least one on any given day. “Our taste in books may not match, but in movies, we are pretty much the same,” she says.  The couple love to catch up with friends and movies on their Sundays too.

A nature-lover at heart, Kalki loves gardening as well and anyone who’s been to their older house that boasted of a terrace garden would vouch for her taste in the flowering variety too. “Yes, I love flowers. I think working in the garden is almost therapeutic. They never fail to bring a smile. Having a garden here in the city is a luxury and I’m glad that my profession helps me afford it,” she laughs. “It’s here surrounded by my cats and flowers that we love to have our morning coffee and then I also work on my scripts,” says Kalki.
