Julia Roberts is very humble: Russhita Singh

The paparazzi went crazy when they learnt that Hollywood actor Julia Roberts was visiting India to shoot for a movie. The film, titled Eat Pray Love is an adaptation of a book based on author Elizabeth Gilbert’s personal experiences. Of the lucky team that got to work with Julia in the Brad Pitt production, was 20-year-old Russhita Singh who even has a few scenes with the Pretty Woman star.

Quiz her on her working experience with Julia and Russhita says that the Hollywood actor is an absolute professional. “Julia also came across as a very humble and compassionate woman,” says Russhita while narrating her first interaction with Julia.

“The casting director kept telling me that this was an important project but when I finally landed the role, I didn’t believe when the team told me that I’d have scenes with Julia Roberts,” says an elated Russhita adding, “I was sitting on a bench at an ashram in Pataudi, when Julia walked in with her son Spencer and introduced herself and her son to me. I kind of blanked out for a few seconds,” laughs Russhita recalling the incident.

The young actress is now hoping that since she has already achieved what most A-list Bollywood stars have been vying for — a Hollywood break — the Hindi film industry will also take notice of her.

As the conversation veers back to Julia, Russhita tells After Hrs that the guruji at the ashram even rechristened Julia and Spencer as Paarvati and Ganesh. “Julia seemed very happy with her new names, though all of us kept addressing them by their original names,” she adds.

Prod her to reveal if Julia has indeed converted to Hinduism as is being reported in the media, and Russhita reluctantly says, “I cannot comment on Julia’s life. But yes, she seemed genuinely intrigued by our rituals and religion and wanted to learn as much as she could about it.” The young actor also reveals that Julia was more than happy to wear a sari for a wedding sequence in the film.

Russhita also adds that she was to fly down to New York for the Hollywood premiere of the film but couldn’t as she fell ill. “Now I’m trying to go for the Rome premiere,” she ends.
