It was way back in 1984 that actor Juhi Chawla first stepped on to the silver screen with Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, opposite actor Aamir Khan. And it seems that Juhi is still as loved as she was by her fans.

The star recently made a trip to Kolkata where cops had to be called because a large group of people had gathered just to catch a glimpse of her. Juhi also co-owns the cricketing franchise out there.

The incident happened when director Onir was shooting for his film I Am in Kolkata. The film also marks Juhi’s comeback after a long time.

“Juhi was shooting with Nandita Das in Kolkata when a crowd started to gather. That is a common occurence on outdoor shoots. But soon the crowdbegan multiplying and became unmanageable. Ultimately the outdoor scene had to be canned,” says a source.

According to the source, a few unit members had made a mistake by letting it slip in advance that Juhi would be shooting there.

“The crowd went berserk when they saw Juhi didi at Gariahat (in south Kolkata) and later on Park Street in Central Kolkata. Finally, the unit felt that they required police protection to continue with the shooting,” the source adds.

Both the actors (Nandita and Juhi) returned to their hotel rooms amidst this confusion. The source adds that this incident has not deterred the ladies from going back to the city. “Juhi and Nandita love Kolkata. Such incidents keep happening. Both of them were even gifted saris by a local sari shop owner who was very excited to have seen the actors in person,” the source ends.
