Sonam Kapoor surely seems to have got into the good books of many film-makers due to her acting skills. She may soon find herself playing a very challenging character who has various shades to her personality.

Film-maker Jagmohan Mundhra wants to cast her in the role of a woman who everyone thinks can’t conceive. The movie is based on a short story called Baanj written by Naresh Chandra about 15 years ago. Though Mundhra had bought the rights of the film then, he wants to revive the project now. Its screenplay was originally written by the late Vijay Tendulkar, one of India’s most influential playwrights.

Mundhra said, “I want someone who can fit in as a college girl, a wife as well as pull off the role of a battered woman with equal ease. Sonam’s name is the first one to come to mind. I hope she agrees to do the project because she will be an asset to the movie. The woman has an array of shades to her character — from being bubbly to emotional and from being loyal to revengeful and blunt. I have seen Sonam’s acting and I know she can pull it off.”

He added, “I have got the rights of Baanj about 15 years ago. I got bowled over when I read the story of a woman who always thought that she cannot conceive because she felt she had a problem. However, the truth was that her husband had a problem. So, eventually when she falls in love with another man and has physical intimacy, she finds out that she is pregnant. Her realisation and the consequences form the climax of the movie. I need someone like Sonam to bring out all this with ease.”
