Actor decides to pull out of the Indian Woodstock project and plans a rock show of his own

MUMBAI: The rock music bug bit him when he caught the morning show of 'Woodstock- the film' and he was swinging to the all the bands that were 'huge' then. Jackie Shroff again made news when he collaborated with the original Woodstock organiser Artie Kornfeld and the two were planning to recreate the festival in India.

Artie who has worked with every big name in the music industry, been a songwriter and producer couldn't stop raving about Jackie when he was in the city the last time around.

"He is the most genuine guy I have ever met; he is a star but he knows where he came from," Artie was heard saying.

After getting a million offers to recreate Woodstock, Artie refused all of them but India in its own mysterious way allured him into taking up the project.

However as it turns out that Jackie has pulled out of the venture for now.

"I met Artie who is in town but on a spiritual quest. I met him as a friend but not for the project. I'm out of it; things did not work out," says Jackie who now wants to organise a separate festival involving the Indian local rock scene.

"I'm planning it for next year or so and it will definitely be for a social cause," he adds.

Artie on the other hand is thrilled about being in the country and cannot stop talking about his meet with spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravishankar.

"There have been some monetary issues because of which Jackie pulled out but we are trying to get him on board again and hope that it will happen," says a source associated in making the venture possible. The actor catches local rock shows and likes the band Vayu.

"I like 2Blue who I feel sings very well. North East also has a lot of bands who are quite good," he says.
For Jackie it's however catching the Led Zeppelin show that will be happening in the UK is the most exciting thing as of now. "November 26 or 27 is the date as of now and I'm planning to catch the show for sure. I have always liked rock music and attended the Uraiah Heep show when the band played in town," he says. The Led Zeppelin concert is supposed to be one of the biggest shows in the history with Jimmy Page (guitarist) and Robert Plant (singer) coming together.
