It’s okay to be sad: Shah Rukh Khan

If there’s one role that’s dearest to actor Shah Rukh Khan, then it’s his real life role of a dad. The actor is known to completely dote over his two children Aryan and Suhana, but more so when it comes to his daughter. And it’s no secret that the papa-beti share a super-strong bond too.

In fact, many even feel that Suhana is actually SRK’s lucky mascot, as he rarely ever lost a match that had her in attendance. “We won or not, I would say Suhana is very lucky for me. I often feel that she is the answer to all my prayers. In fact, I am lucky to have her,” says the actor. According to insiders, apparently he has even promised to take her on a shopping spree to celebrate his recent victory. But ask him what’s the one advice he gives his kids and he says that he tells them that it’s okay to be sad. “You know, I think we Indians are afraid to show and celebrate our happiness, lest things change around. But I feel that it’s okay to be sad and okay to show when you are happy,” says the actor.

Recalling an incident, the actor adds, “Once I was very upset and had locked myself in the room and when Suhana came, I told her I was sad, so she asked me how long will you be sad. And I said maybe two hours and she came back after two hours and asked me if I was better and I just let her in and hugged her for a long time. I felt that just quantifying sadness had helped me get rid of it, so it was okay. So, yes, I always teach my daughter that it’s perfectly alright to be sad. You feel sad, you show it. You get happy and you b***** well  show that too.”

The actor also reveals that in a way there’s much he has learnt from his daughter. “She is the small, but super strong types!” smiles Shah Rukh.
