It’s wrap up time at Berlinale

Day 4: My movie team is slowly getting used to the cold.... but alas! it’s almost time to leave now. It’s our last night in Berlin. Some of us watched films since morning.. some planned to tour the city and others decided to catch up with friends.

Last night we had a screening of our movie in a very different part of the city in one of the oldest and most prestigious cinema halls of Berlin( Kant Kino). And the audience this time was a mixed age group. The response for the film here has been so overwhelming and it feels so incredible to see each and every show fully booked.
Satishji went to watch Shutter Island last night. Abhay , Dev and I went to the Screen Australia cocktails and then the Brazilian party.
The entire team had dinner,later together.

The films being talked about are MaMmuth starring French star Gerard Depardieu, One of my favourite directors Zhang Yimou s film -a woman , a gun and a noodle soup. Yimou s film is inspired by the contemporary masters Coen Brothers’ film Blood  Simple.

To quote  Zhang Yimou..."I love all the works by the Coen Brothers’. Some 20 years ago at a film festival, I saw their directorial debut Blood Simple, which left a great impression on me."

Howl star James Franco was here.... The film was a Sundance hit and made its mark here too.

Old masters section includes hommage to german director Wolfgang Kohlhaase. There are certain younger directors included in this section. Among which is one of my favourite contemporary directors (Berlin,Cannes winner) Fatih Akin bringing his film Edge of heaven to Berlinale. I saw the film on DVD a few months back and am a fan of the film.

It’s time to pack and get ready for the generation 14 plus dinner tonight. We leave directly after the dinner. The plan is to party till 3am and catch the plane at 5am directly.

Woooo........ It’s been hectic but we all had a great time and above all our film has been such a success here.
Looking forward to next year,with more films, snow, food and people.....
