NEW DELHI: Having turned into iconic figures in the north-eastern region, the two Indian Idol finalists - Amit Paul and Prashant Tamang - met UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

In the meeting which took place on Friday, Gandhi congratulated the two singers for reaching the final of the talent hunt and wished them "all the best".

During the nearly 20-minute meeting at her residence, Paul and Tamang sang a song for her and they chose the very patriotic "Zindagi Maut Na Banjaaye..." from the film 'Border'.

"Excellent and all the best" was Gandhi's comment to the youngsters as they finished the song.

Paul said he never expected to meet Gandhi and it was a 'memorable' day.

"We have clicked photographs with Gandhi also," he said.

Paul's competitor Tamang said they sought her blessings.
