Actor Imaad Shah is back on the theatre circuit with a play on love and relationships in the urban setup

Imaad Shah's new play on love and the city

Being Naseeruddin Shah’s son comes with its own set of expectations.

Imaad, who has so far been actively involved in theatre and has his own music band, is excited to be back on stage with The Skins Productions debut play, Lovepuke. Adapted from Duncan Sarkies, the play directed by Saba Azad takes a frenzied look on the state of love and relationships in the contemporary urban setup.

Imaad plays Joe, the narrator who also doubles up as an actor on stage. Speaking to DNA, he says, “I play Joe, the only single guy in this gang of couples. He is always on his own trip and is forever ready to dole out relationship advice. Joe has his own take on relationships and love. I am quite like that in life and I could actually relate to the character.”

The script which has been penned down way back in 1933 was tweaked a little to suit the requirements of the Indian audiences.

“The theme of the play being universal, most of the changes are cultural and contextual. Barring a few slang words, everything else remains
intact,” says the actor who was last seen in Little Zizou.

Imaad who has been doing theatre for quite sometime has his hands full at the moment. He is busy with a few Motley Group plays and is also performing musical shows all across the country. He lets us in on a few details.

“My band, the Pulp Society, primarily plays funk, rock and jazz music. Just last week we performed at Blue Frog and have more lined up.”

Besides music, Imaad will be also seen in a film by an independent production house
titled 404. Though he has a guest appearance in the film, he is quite excited about the project.
