I’m a closet writer: Randeep Hooda

While actor Randeep Hooda’s creating buzz as the new ‘Bhatt boy’ with his big screen outing in the erotic thriller Jism 2, off the screen, the actor has also been pursuing a passion of another kind. And we are not referring to his love for horses here, but for writing. While many are aware of Randeep’s association with theatre and his involvement with actor Naseeruddin Shah’s theatre group Motley as an actor for a while now, what many do not know is that he also made his debut as a writer recently.

The actor has along with Faisal Rashid written a play which is an Indian adaptation of Lee Blessing’s A Walk in The Woods that also marked actor Ratna Pathak Shah’s debut as a director.

“So far I’ve been a closet writer, so yes I’ve sort of come out of the closet with this one,”   shares Randeep. Admitting that writing’s always been a passion, though he’s never revealed this side of him, he adds, “Till now I had only been writing for myself. I have written several screenplays and short stories, but this is the first time I have done something that has been presented, though this one is an adaptation that I have done with Faisal.” Currently the actor’s maha-busy with his films — Jism 2, John Day and Vishram Sawant’s action flick Shooter — but Randeep does admit that he would want to pursue this passion further for sure. “Right now I am too busy with my films as an actor, but it’s definitely something I will follow up,” he says, revealing that not only stories, he would also love to pen film scripts someday.
