‘I think Prince Harry’s amazing!’

Singer Cheryl Cole is known for more than just her music — her unsuccessful marriage with footballer Ashley Cole, her “crush” on Prince Harry, her star-studded fan club that boasts of the likes of Kate Middleton, music band Coldplay and singer Rihanna; cheeky exchanges with media mogul Simon Cowell and of course her fashion sense among others. The Brit singer, who turned 29 recently, is at the moment basking in the success of her third studio album 'A Million Lights'. Excerpts from an interview:
 
You’re a consistent newsmaker. How do you manage to do that?
I don’t know, sometimes I think maybe people are tired of reading about me. It gets a bit overwhelming at times, when everything about your life is in the tabloids. I don’t really do it on purpose.

Your work has been appreciated by many including Kate Middleton and Rihanna. But what has been the best compliment you have received so far?
I was really honoured when Coldplay tweeted about the album. It’s just a great feeling to be appreciated!

Tell us about the album. How do you describe it? Why the name ‘A Million Lights’?
I actually had a different title in mind but one of the tracks on the album is called A Million Lights. Everyone who worked on the album really liked that track and eventually we decided that it made sense to name the album after it. We have worked hard on this album and there are different collaborations on it. I’m very happy with it!

What’s next on your mind, work wise and otherwise?
For now, I just want to concentrate on my music and my career. I’m really happy that this album has done well and I hope to do even better in the future. Now, my focus is the upcoming tour.

Like most celebrated artistes, are you superstitious too?
Not really.

You turned 29 recently. What’s been your birthday resolution?
I have recently launched this charity foundation and I really want to raise money for it!

Are you fond of Bollywood or Indian music or Indian food?
I have heard a lot about Bollywood. I love Indian films, they’re so full of music and I especially love Indian food.

We have heard/read a lot about your dream of marrying Prince Harry, is that true?
(Laughs) Oh! That was never a serious thing. I do think he’s amazing and a really great lad though.
