I never go anywhere without my green Ganesha: Sameera Reddy

Going green is the need of the hour. And what better way to support the cause than through the DNA eco Ganesha initiative. One B-Towner who’s been with the campaign right from its inception is actress Sameera Reddy.

“I have been visiting DNA’s pandals for the past three years. I totally support the need for a concept like the eco Ganesha. I always believe that one should play a vital role in keeping our environment clean. And if our age-old tradition of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival can be followed in an eco-friendly way, then why not? Keeping the environment pollution free will help us in the future, and we will see its effects in 10 years’ time,” she says.

Does she bring home any Ganesha idols during this time of the year? “No, I don’t do any big puja, I am keeping that for the time I settle down in life.” But a small green Ganesh idol has been an integral part of her life, “Lord Ganesha is there in my mind every day. I remember not only during Ganesh Chaturthi, but everyday. Furthermore, whenever I start something new, be it a film or any other venture, I seek blessings from both Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha. I even have this green Ganesh idol, which I got in Mysore from a sculptor’s godown, I pray to Him every day ever since I moved into my new house.”

For Sameera, the festival is also the time to gorge on yummy delicacies. “Though, I am a grown-up now, I still can’t let go of the  modaks and puranpolis that my mother makes during this time. My diet goes for a complete toss as I simply can’t stop eating them,” she says.

According to Sameera, the festive period is also an opportunity to cleanse not just our homes, but also the environment along with our souls.
