Mumbai: She's young, beautiful and fairly successful, but when it comes to marriage, Amrita Rao feels it's way too early to consider. "Don't you think I'm too young to get married? My parents will whip me if I even talk about marriage now," she exclaims. "They want me to concentrate on my career now."

Not now: Amrita Rao

For now, that would also mean a reality show she's hosting which looks to hook up five eligible grooms with the bride of their choice. But while she's romancing the camera in Perfect Bride, Amrita seems aghast at the thought of choosing a life partner on national television.

"I don't think I have the guts. When it comes to tying the knot, the whole concept should be that I know the guy long enough to marry him," she says.

While she insists she is single, Amrita says she's got some super insights into the complexities of relationships by playing agony aunt to her friends for years now. "Right from my school days, girls would confide in me about the big decision of their lives and I would guide them. But somehow my male friends would never discuss it with me. I think guys like to talk about these things only with other guys. Though I'm single, I perfectly understand the apprehensions of a girl."

Amrita says that while she's open to an arranged marriage, it's a must to know the guy well before taking the plunge. "It doesn't matter if you have been told by your aunt about a rishta or someone else. And I'm open to a live-in relationship to get to meet the guy and know him better. But it need not necessarily mean that I have to be in a live-in relationship. I can go out with him on dates or spend time with him otherwise. You should know the person well before you get married to him," says the 28-year-old.

So what kind of man is she looking to settle down with? "I would want my groom to be comfortable with his personality and achievements in life because I'm in the glamour world. I am bound to draw attention when I go out, so I would not want him to be insecure. I would also want him to be an honest person," she signs off.
