Mumbai: Om Puri and wife Nandita's marriage is "rock solid" even though reports of their bitter tiff over controversial contents in the actor's biography, 'Unlikely Hero: The Story Of Om Puri', are making headlines.

While Om accused the media for sensationalising portions from the book written by his wife, Nandita is now alleging that her husband has been 'misquoted' by a leading tabloid.
"Om never said many of the things that have been attributed to him," Nandita told DNA. "Om's relationship with women is a very small portion in the book which tries to primarily focus on his life and times, the glorious age of parallel cinema in Bollywood, his relationship with colleagues and how he became a very successful crossover artist especially in the UK."

Standing by her husband, Nandita said: "I don't have a problem with his relationships as those were things of the past. Om has been graceful enough to tell me about them.
"I chose to write the book because I have seen the man

more closely than anyone else. I'm his wife and I have seen his strong and weak points, his eccentricities, little follies and things that you can't help but adore; all these are part of Om. I'm not trying to make a god out of him nor demonise him through the book."
Nandita refuted the allegations that all this hype was just a stunt to publicise the book. "Om has over three decades of glorious acting record behind him. He doesn't need stunts to sell his biography. We as a family never endorse cheap publicity," she said.

However, Nandita admits that that the controversy has brought the book in the limelight. "But it was at a cost. The family is pained but with time the pain will go. Om and I are rock solid and there's no threat to our marriage," she said.

Om Puri in a statement said: "I am proud of my story, my childhood and my journey
and I see it as an inspirational story for millions of Indians. The book 'Unlikely Hero' is a tribute to my friends, my colleagues, my mentors and the women in my life. Nandita is a journalist of repute and I am proud of her writing."
