I’m not getting married says Tabu

Bollywood is abuzz with rumours about actress Tabu tying the knot with an Indian businessman early next year. The lovely actress, however, is far from pleased. Having taken past speculation about her personal life in her stride, this time around the actor’s not ready to take it lying down. But more than angry, by her own admission, she’s maha-upset.

“No, I’m not getting married,” Tabu states, putting to rest all rumours. “This must be the first time that a bride’s not invited to her own wedding,” she smiles at the irony.

Strong the rumours may be, but Tabu confesses that she has no clue as to where they stem from. “Every time I return from Hyderabad, I find gossip about my marriage doing the rounds. This is the fifth time in the past one year that people have planned my wedding. Incidentally, no one even knows the name of the guy. Maybe they should plan a meeting between us before playing wedding planners,” says the actress, who has maintained a stoic silence about her relationships in the past.

Being a star, she’s aware that her life is up for gossip, and does take it all with a pinch of salt, but this time it has gone far too much, she feels. “Marriage is a very sacred institution for which I have utmost respect. It hurts when people trivialise something that’s so important a phase in anyone’s life. By now, I am tired of replying to congratulatory messages with polite denials,” says the star.

“Forget marriage, I’m not even in a relationship at the moment,” Tabu reveals. And though the actress believes in marriage, she also feels that it’s not a must. “Marriage is never a necessity, but a choice. I would love to get married, provided I find that special someone with whom I can connect emotionally. As for now, I am happy being single,” she smiles, setting the record straight.
