Mumbai: It's almost been a year since she disappeared following the controversial sex scandal in Afghanistan (see box), but Tania Zaetta is back on her feet now.
The Australian government tendered her an unconditional apology, but she still decided to lie low for a while.
When DNA got through to Tania at her home in Australia's Gold Coast, we found she's already planning her comeback. "Ha! Yes, I guess it does look like I completely vanished from India, it wasn't on purpose. I'm hoping to get back in the next couple of months. I've started looking at a few more Bollywood roles now."
Not that she hasn't been busy in between -- she's signed an international film called The Ninja and hosts a prime time TV show called Mission Implausible, among other things. But she admits memories of India are haunting her.
Tania can't forget an incident that happened in Agra during the Bunty Aur Babli shoot.
"Suddenly I saw thousands of people crowding around with hundreds of policemen and security guys at the hotel. I gasped to Abhishek (Bachchan), 'My god, what's happening? Has there been a bomb attack?' He just laughed saying, 'Don't worry, it's for my dad. He's arriving soon.'"
The next day, in the middle of her scenes with Amitabh Bachchan, she asked him if there was room in Bollywood for an Aussie girl. "He said, 'Indeed there is, now is the time, and you are the perfect girl to do it.' I pretty much started living in India from then and worked in three more films."
While she does several bold international assignments, she went absolutely coy here. Did she misread Bollywood back then? "Absolutely not! I was very aware of how much flesh to expose in India. I didn't want to be cast in films as a 'boobs and bum' girl, because I'm not that at all!"
Tell the 38-year-old that she's looking hotter than ever, and she says the secret is a beach walk every morning, along with Pilates and yoga. "I call it my 'tight tummy, firm ass class'. The results you get from Pilates are amazing! I'm thinking of bringing out my own Power Pilates DVD soon."
