I liked being ragged, says Amrita Puri

If you thought that actress Amrita Puri had left no stone unturned when it came to chasing her dreams — even if it meant playing hopscotch with writing, acting and theatre — Amrita insists there she has some more surprises up her sleeve. The pretty actress has now taken to television and will soon be seen in a television show.

The fiction show revolves around the lives of five interns who want to get into the corporate sector with their lofty dreams of earning a name. And Amrita plays an intern in one of the episodes.

“Well, it was interesting to play the intern,” she says. But clearly it wasn’t just all fun and the actor was made to slog it out, probably like any ordinary intern. Her job included running errands and serving coffee to her seniors and some even ragged her. But Amrita has no complaints as she admits, “I think I even liked being ragged.”

The actress, whose performance in her debut film Aisha, was appreciated, says that she has an inborn flair for writing. “Writing remains my first love,” she asserts. “I am looking forward to writing again — for magazines perhaps. It is something I have always loved. I just need to find some time to make the pen and paper meet,” she smiles.

Even though she is focussing on films, Amrita has not put theatre aside. “I’m working on two new plays — the one with Anish Trivedi is titled Famous Last Word; and there is another one with Tom Alter and Kalki Koelchin that I would start rehearsing for in May,” she concludes.
