I hate being dictated, says Kajol

The actor reveals why she’s always chosen to follow her heart.

I hate being dictated, says Kajol

Actor Kajol’s off to London for a 10-day break with hubby actor Ajay Devgn and their two kids — Nysa and Yug. Excited about the family vacation, she says, “I think what makes Ajay and me really compatible to a great extent is our priority. For both of us, nothing matters more than the family.” And is it for this same reason that the actor’s being rather choosey about her film projects? “I think not only now, but workwise I’ve always been this way, very choosy. I have never succumbed to all the number one talk and who is on top and all that, because I have always worked on my own terms.

So, I have only done films that interested me, and not to prove any point to anyone or up my market ratings,” reveals Kajol, admitting that this attitude has often been mistaken as her being snobbish. “There are people who tend to think that I’m such a snob or khadoos, but they are people who don’t know me, nor do they matter to me, so I don’t care what they think anyway,” explains Kajol, who though not working on films is rather busy with her endorsement deals.

“I am very clear about the kind of roles I want to do and the kind of people I want to work with. The equations I share with my director and co-stars is very important for me. I need to be comfortable with the people I work,” adds the actor, who recently shot for a cameo for good friend and filmmaker Karan Johar’s Student of The Year. As for teaming up together with him and good friend actor Shah Rukh Khan for a full-fledged film, she says that they are all waiting for the right script themselves. “A film for me whether with them or not, will happen once I find a script that I feel something for strongly. Like I always say, it has to be worth my time away from kids,” adds the feisty star.

Kajol has always been a non-conformist when it comes to her choices, on-screen or off it, point this out and the actor says that she has never thought of her choices as going against the tide. “I am no rebel, I have nothing to prove so there’s no agenda as such to be a non-conformist or different. All I have ever done is follow my heart, may be because I hate to be dictatedto. So I am all ears if you tell me something, but I can’t be ordered around,” laughs Kajol.

What about a film with Ajay? “Let’s see, there’s nothing on cards as of now for sure. And it may be a while before anything materialises too. Ajay’s super busy with Son of Sardar and all his other films. So, we are not really trying too hard on that front, but if something comes along, sure. He’s always been a great co-star,” smiles the actor.
