I don’t want a divorce: 'Break Ke Baad' director Danish Aslam

Debutante director Danish Aslam has his relationship priorities in place and a break from wife Shruti Seth is definitely not one of them.

I don’t want a divorce: 'Break Ke Baad' director Danish Aslam

It’s exciting times for debutante director Danish Aslam. It’s been only a month that he got married to his girlfriend, actor Shruti Seth, of four years and his film Break Ke Baad is due for release.

So, the first question that comes to mind is whether or not he will direct Shruti, who was last seen as an aspiring politician in Rajneeti? “I have been married for a month; I don’t want to get divorced so soon. I was not looking to cast her in my first film anyway; as a director I am not yet ready to handle an actor like her. But you never know what happens in the future,” says Danish.

Talking about Break Ke Baad, does the director really want to show new age women as being commitment phobic? “I am not making a social statement with my film, if that was the case I would have made a documentary,” says Danish. “All the love stories in Bollywood are similar, what people remember are strong characters and that’s what I kept in mind while making Break...,” says Danish.

While Imran was always the first choice for the lead, it took Danish some time to convince him. “I liked Imran in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and wanted to cast him but the first time he read the script, he said no. Then, we met up at a party and got talking and realised that we had a lot of things in common. I rewrote the story with Renuka, showed it to him again and he agreed. I guess he was destined to do the film,” says the director. Incidentally, Imran did not have to do much to fit into the character for it’s a lot like what he is in real life.
