Helen gets jiggy!

Producer Anil Sharma’s new found boy Yuvraaj Parashar is on seventh heaven, literally. The actor who makes his debut in Dunno Y…Naa Jane Kyun was excited while shooting a dance sequence with none other than Helen.

While shooting, the actor was surprised when the director Sanjay Sharma mentioned that he will be shaking his leg with the Bollywood diva.

“Initially I was really nervous by the thought of matching steps with Helenji,” says Yuvraaj. Incidentally Yuvraaj is the only Bollywood newcomer who has got the chance to shake a leg with Helen because she has never danced with any debutant actor in her entire career.

Helen has done a salsa and jived in the famous Goan folk song, Bom Bom Bombay meri Jaan, which had been remixed by Nikhil Kamat from the duo Nikhil Vinay fame. The situation of the song arises when the family is playing passing the parcel in the film and it stops on Helen because of which she has to dance.

Zeenat Aman, who plays her bahu in the film, tries to rescue Helen, because dancing could cause unnessary exhaustion at her age but the saasu refuses to acknowledge that she is too old to shake a leg and says in the quintessential Helen style, “Mujhse achcha item number kaun kar sakta hai? In haddiyon mein abhi bhi bahut dum hai...” and starts performing. Well, not just in the film but in real life too Helen is made of stern stuff.

“On the day of the shoot, Helenji had been suffering from  high blood pressure and knee pain. My director Sanjay Sharma even offered to change the scene and scrap the item song, but Helenji was professional enough to see it through saying she was committed to doing the song so she would. After the song was shot, everyone applauded and gave her a standing ovation,” says Yuvraaj.

Of course, Helen avoids dancing in films lately but when she does decide to shake a leg, it is sheer magic. Helen was seen dancing with Salman Khan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
