George Clooney calls for action

Actor George Clooney has called on the US government officials to take action to prevent the starvation crisis in South Sudan following his arrest in Washington Friday morning. The Hollywood star and his journalist father Nick were placed in handcuffs and driven away by secret service agents after they ignored three requests from cops to leave the area of a humanitarian protest.

The actor, who gave a speech on the steps of the Sudanese embassy, was arrested with his father and 13 fellow protesters after they refused to clear the area and were charged with disorderly crossing a police line. As he was led away, Clooney admitted his arrest was a deeply humiliating thing, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

He was released after two hours in custody and held an impromptu press conference with his dad urging the US politicians to act now to put a stop to Sudan’s President Omar al-Bashir’s ruthless quest for oil.
